Cape Town MMXIII / Alexander Lewis-Hughes

Cape Town MMXIII / Alexander Lewis-Hughes from nonAim Pictures by Oliver M. on Vimeo.

Name: Alexander James Lewis-Hughes
Nicknames: Tweak, Rowdy, Big Al, Biggie
Date of Birth: 14/09/1986
Nationality: Australian

Website:
 http://howareya.wordpress.com/
Disciplines: Kiteboarding, Kitesurfing, kiteskating
Competitive Highlights:
3 times Australian windsurfing wavesailing Junior National champion.
1st in the (2007?) Coconet classic Tannum Sands and Cairns Kite-week
3 times Mambo junior champion.
(Those are the only ones that I think are really worth remembering.)
Home spot: Ballina/ Lennox Head
Favourite Spots: Anywhere with good kickers.
Favourite Moves: Any tricks from a kicker, toeside tricks.
More important than kiting: Shredding the gnar on the daily.
Inspiration: Lou Wainman, Shannon Best (kiting) because if it wasn’t for these guys, I wouldn’t be doing a lot of what I’m doing (neither would a lot of other people).
But lots of people inspire me in general. If I see someone do something sick (in any sport) with a nice style or a creative approach it inspires me a lot. I’m not really inspired by old mate doing stock trick after trick or turn after turn on a wave.
What do you do in free time: Skateboard, surf, wakeboard, wakeskate, create graphics, take videos and pictures…

What’s on your iPod:
Probably nothing that’s on yours hahaha (hipster answer).
Well mainly alternative hip hop, like Stones Throw Records produces, all of Wu-Tangs best, a host of Electronica based artists and some Cloud and Trap along with other notable classics, Bowe, Stranglers etc…

Future plans and goals:
Keep progressing in everything I do and make some videos that are worth watching!

Dream session:
hmmm, lots of things could be this. Really just anytime it’s on and I’m having a good session. It doesn’t have to be a good place or an epic day, it just needs to be a day when I’m “feeling it”. You know? Hahaha.

Other Sponsors:
Tona, Cardboards, Kitepower, Truck stop skate Ballina.
Interesting saying: I’m sure I have a few, but one that stands out to me is this one that a good friend said to me in New Caledonia recently;
“Old enough to smoke, old enough to choke”…
Make of it what you will.
