We dedicated this film to our good friend Marty Lowe. He is a Rocky Mountain snowkite and wind chasing legend. I was deeply inspired when I first met him and was so impressed with his knowledge of the area and his explorations. He was always a strong supporter of the Jackson Hole Kiters and always encouraged us to keep filming and exploring. Marty passed away just as we were finishing this video and the entire kite community in the western USA will miss him deeply.

 Thinlines is a cinematic snowkite short documenting the last 2 months of the 2014 season. This video was shot at a number of places in the Jackson, Wy area including 3 Waters Mountain in the Wind Rivers, the Absaroka’s, the Buffalo Plateau, Togwotee, and a little Bondo. Many of these shots are documenting the first snowkite sessions ever in these locations. We're taking our filming and snowkiting to new places each time. We are excited to say that aside from the shot of lines in the intro there wasn’t a single tripod, glidecam, or slider used in this video. GoPro mounts on kites, skis, RC plane, and helmets. The DSLR was all filmed by hand.

We are taking stabilization a step further with zen focus practice and proper editing. This may be one of the most cutting edge aspects of this film along with the snowkiting itself. This filming and editing technique will undoubtedly move to other expedition oriented sports since you can give a cinematic feel to a video with nothing but the camera and your hands in the backcountry.

Flyoming... Adventure Snowkiting in our Back Yard

Flyoming is a film about the current level of snowkiting in Wyoming. Snowkiting has been in Wyoming for over 15 years now and has moved onto bigger terrain and off the flats more and more each year. The possibilities grow every season as the equipement and skill level continues to improve. Our Exploration continues and there are many stones left unturned for now.

I've filmed the entire film with a GoPro and a Canon 6d and I apologize for the moire which is an issue with the 6d. I've got my first timelapses with the 6d in here along with the use of a Cinevate Slider which has been really fun to use. The aerial shots are out the window of a Cessna with my buddy Jacob Glissmeyer flying. Generally the shakier shots are the ones that are further in the back country since I was traveling without a tripod.
I've messed with sound more than my past videos. I've transitioned and cut up the songs to set 3 different tones in the short time. I tried to use sound to make the transitions seem smoother.
We are kiting a number of Wyoming areas including Angle Mountain, Togwotee Pass, the Abseroka's, Bondurant, Jack Creek, and the Bighorns.
